Fun with Ulf and Lotte

After a nice one night stay at the Tivoli Hotel in Copenhagen, right next to the famous Tivoli amusement park, Ulf came and picked me and all my luggage up and before heading to their beautiful home, we zipped about Copenhagen a bit. Each time I've come to visit, Ulf plays Best Host Ever and takes me to see a couple of unique spots. This time we started with a walk thru Christiania (worth a look-up on the net). A commune type of city within the city - they have declared themselves a sovereign state - funny as it was formerly an army barracks and when the army moved to new digs...well let's just say a population of forward thinkers moved in.
Entering - after that, there are only a few places where photos are allowed - nefarious deeds going on and all that!
A little too early for the concerts to begin, but they are always ready!
Tall ship in the harbour
The Royal Yaught - window, driving and a touch of rain, so not the best shot if it.

The amazing new Opera House, side view
Beer and open sandwiches at Copenhagen Street Food - right on harbour, dozens and dozens of kiosks and did I mention delicious? Well it was!
Eating street food and admiring the view of the Theatre for performing arts. Okay, enjoying the dark beer, too!
Lotte and Ulf's beautiful back yard
Lotte and Sir Otto
Supper and then a coffe at an amazing North Sea Inn
It was getting dark - too dark to see sea almost! Ha!
They have such an amazing home - and it's filled with photos, antiques and amazing dog art collected over many years! Ulf took these two off their walls so I could snap them together - by amazing Danish artist Irene Naarits
Ulf giving me a lesson on how to show reindeer
I learn quickly - he awarded me the BIS ribbon!

2015 Polar Gold Cup

Beautiful weather and a great venue for this terrific event.
Rental cabins on site - amazing sleep six-ers
Both days, BIS was awarded to  a lovely Samoyed bitch - Cabaka's Diamond Diva
My choice for BOB Malamute the first days was a very impressive bitch - Czarik's Iczamaka
Over all Junior Handler was Silje Due - 17 with her Samoyed

The second day, I awarded Siberian BOB to Hay Je Ho Cold Play - a good moving and strong male that has competed in the Danske Polar Race (170 km) more than once. I brought small tokens of Canadiana - Inukshuk sculptures - and the small gift really struck an emotional cord with this owner! Very sweet!

I gave Samoyed BOB to Cakaba's Diamond Diva and Mardee also awarded her BIS the second day!
Saturday night the Club held a great banquet - so delicious.
And just to bring even a little more competition to the weekend, Participants were invited to bring their fav homemade dessert - Mardee and I got to judge ... so had to sample each and every one. We chose our fav four and came up with two common faves and then chose The One - a delightful Tiramasu made by Ann - compliments!!!
Wow!
On Sunday, when Mardee and my judging was all done, the Club brought in a local judge who hadn't been at the Show all weekend. This year it was a Chow Chow breeder. And she certainly arrived in style.
Our amazing stewards for the weekend: Ebbe Madsen, Kirsten Pedersen and Pia Hendriksen

A day in Koge

A country train ride for a day of sightseeing and shopping in Koge. Mostly just kicking around and enjoying the views, but, did find a great jacket which, of course, had to come home with me.
Lunch and a beer with Mardee and Ginny
A quaint little channel ran through this lovely town
Back to the hotel for supper and an early evening before the start of the BIG  Show tomorrow.
My highest recommendations for this amazing Inn
This country Inn had it all, horses, a fish pond, cats, dogs and a great bunny hutch.

Denmark - the day before the Polar Gold Cup

After an easy and uneventful flight yesterday, Mardee, Ginny (mardee's friend from California who also has Samoyed) and I walked into town for a delightful supper at Le Mer, a local restaurant. It was really a settle-in and catch up on a little sleep sort of a day, so after a lazy afternoon, the stroll to Le Mer was most appreciated.

Our hotel is amazing. An early 1800's farm that has been converted to a conference/retreat Inn. Complete with art hanging on the walls, designer gowns on dressmaker's forms, antique furniture gracing corners, the quaint arrangements and thatched roofs make for a truly old world aesthetic feel to the entire experience.

Breakfast was an amazing spread of cheeses, salami and sliced meats, perfectly boiled eggs and BREAD - homemade and still warm from the oven rohbrot (my spelling of this could be way off) and buns, homemade preserves to spread on liberally and enjoyed with juice and coffee. I'm going to have to do a little walking today to burn some of this off.
