Day 14 - the Cathedral of Leon

Just a couple of pics of this amazing gothic structure. It was started in the 13th century, when Leon only had a population of approx. 5000 inhabitants...quite the financial burden for a tiny city. It was restored and the central dome replaced in the 16th century, when some cracks appeared and some crumbling had the populous worried. Each of the stained glass windows was dismantled, with each piece of glass stored in order in individual crates, and the numerous windows reset once the structural integrity was restored. We're talkin millions of pieces of coloured glass.
Some of the main structure is once again being repaired, so there are a few scaffolds about
Cathedral of Leon from the square (note the scaffold far right)
Just a few of the pieces of window art
You are still with me! That's one of the rear turrets of the Gaudi building in the background
